Frequently Asked Questions

Why is there an adult rating to purchase iLog?

Due to the pricing of iLog, Apple insists that the iLog app have an adult rating.

Can I use iLog on multiple iPads?

ILog is intended to replace the "aircraft can" so to speak. With that in mind, I recommend one iLog for each aircraft. It is important to understand that the aircraft data is backed up under the users iTunes account. So each aircraft should have its own iPad and unique iTunes account per aircraft. When users attempt multiple iLogs with one Apple ID and several iPads, users can loose their previous flight data or have crash issues when reviewing or editing previous logs.

What if my iPad gets lost, stolen, etc?

No problem. The data associated with iLog also lives in the iCloud. So, when you set up the replacement iPad, reestablish your iPad with the same iTunes account used on the old iPad and simply reinstall iLog and the data will follow.

What is the difference between a request number and a leg number?

They are basically the same. Each request/leg number will prepopulate from the value of the previous number plus the value of one.

What is a log number?

A log number is a unique number assigned to each iLog. Users can enter the starting number in the Settings menu under General settings. iLog automatically adjusts each subsequent log number on the next iLog sheet.

Can I use alpha numeric on request numbers?

Yes. Some companies like to use both numeric and letters to designate different flight categories. For example, the request number/leg number of 12345CM could mean the the leg number is 12345 and the CM is inserted to designate it was a commercial flight or the flight should be billed to a particular department. Note that the next will prepopulate as 12346 without any alpha characters.

What are security seals?

Security seals are non-residue adhesive security labels are suitable for use on interior and exterior aircraft surfaces. These security seals indicate tampering by revealing a hidden message in the film of the label when they are lifted from the surface to which they are applied, and yet they do not leave a residue on the surface.

What if I have a loaner engine, how do I track my times?

No problem. The user can easily change the engine data in Settings, on the Aircraft Data page. Then select save. iLog will maintain those values going forward.

What are custom fields?

Customs fields allows users to self title columns in iLog. Common custom field headers are Canpass, Hydraulic and Oil Levels, etc.

Can Maintence sign off an item that requires an RII?

Yes! iLog has the ability for multiple mechanics to enter their information. Once both mechanics have performed their inspection, simply select each mechanic. Note that both mechanics must sign together when prompted.

Why does iLog send in both HTML format and in a PDF format?

This allows iLog users to utilize both formats. The HTML format is designed specifically to allow users to parse their data to into their own internal software systems.

What if I have a 3 engine jet?

Not a problem, just turn on the Engine 3 slider in Settings under Aircraft data. iLog will then track additional engine data.

Why does iLog send in both HTML format and in a PDF format?

Yes. iLog takes the date information from the date (zulu) on the iPad itself. To change an iLog date, the user must change the date on the iPad. To do this, go to the iPads Settings- under Date & Time.
